This year marks a proud moment for us at Foster Cares Ltd as we celebrate 25 years of helping children and young people across the North East and North West find safe, loving homes.
Since we started in 2000, we have worked hard to make a real difference in the lives of children and foster families. We have never been about flashy headlines. What really matters to us is people. Real people. The carers who open their homes, the children who trust again and the staff who support every step of the way.
We believe fostering is about connection. Over the years, we have welcomed people from all walks of life. Whether you are single, married, working or retired, it’s the heart you bring that matters most. Our carers & staff are not perfect. None of us are, But they show up, they care, and they stick with it. That’s what makes the difference.
What sets is apart is the way we support our carers. From day one, we are there with training, advice and a listening ear. Many of our carers have stayed with us for several years because they know we are there side by side with them at every step of their journey.
To mark our 25th anniversary, we brought together carers, staff and families for two celebration events in the North East and North West. There was food, laughter and a lot of love in the room. It was a chance for us to say thank you to the people who have helped shaped Foster Cares into what it is today.
Stories we shared, memories we made, and were were reminded again of just how strong and supportive our fostering family really is!
It feels fitting this year’s Fostering Fortnight theme is The power of Relationships. Strong, steady relationships are at the heart of every successful foster placement. We see how the bond between a child and their carer helps them to heal and grow. We also see how the connection between our staff and carers helps build trust and confidence. Relationships aren’t just nice to have. They’re essential. They’re what makes fostering work.
We are so proud of everything that we have achieved over the last 25 years, but we’re not stopping there. We are committed to continue to grow our fostering family, reaching more children and supporting more carers. There’s still a lot of work to do, and we’re ready to help!
