Lucy and Alan’s Fostering Journey.

Lucy and Alan’s fostering story is a testament to the incredible impact a devoted couple can have on the lives of vulnerable children. Since 2014, Lucy and Alan have been pillars of support and love for countless children, bringing warmth and stability into their lives.

Before finding their home at Foster Cares Ltd, Lucy and Alan began their journey as foster carers with a local authority. However, it was with us that they found the support and resources needed to truly make a difference.

Their fostering journey has been rich and diverse, with numerous placements enriching their life and the lives of those they care for. Currently, they’re fostering two teenagers seeking asylum, offering them not just a roof over their heads but a sense of belonging and hope for the future.

Respecting Cultural and Religious Beliefs.

One quality that sets Lucy and Alan apart is their commitment to respecting and nurturing their foster children’s cultural and religious beliefs, particularly with UASC. Currently they ensure access to halal meat, facilitate visits to the mosque, and arrange solicitor appointments and translators as needed, providing an environment where the children can practise their faith and access the necessary legal support they need.

Reflecting on their journey, Lucy emphasises the importance of trust and patience. “Give them 100% trust, and its up to them to keep it,” she says. Lucy and Alan understand the challenges of fostering older children but believe in giving them the freedom and independence they need to thrive.

Family Support in Fostering.

Their own family plays a crucial role in their fostering journey, providing support and stability for both them and the children by providing sound role models and despite the challenges, Lucy and Alan remain committed to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children. They encourage others to consider fostering, emphasising the profound impact it can have on both the carer and the child.

At Foster Cares Ltd, Lucy and Alan have found not just a job but a calling – a calling to spread love, hope, and happiness to those who need it most. Their story is an inspiration to us all, reminding us of the power of kindness and compassion in changing lives.
